“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will spend it’s whole life believing it is stupid.” ~Albert Einstein~
This quote reminded me to be thankful that God created us individually with different looks, personalities, gifts, and with a free will to make choices. God does not force us to choose Him, though He loves us still. A fish wasn't made to climb a tree. Hypothetically, a fish who would try to climb a tree has two guarantees: 1. He will fail every time at what he is trying to do. 2. He will bypass "the life" that he was designed to live happily in the water.
What gifts has He created us with? Have we ever taken time to examine the interests God has purposefully placed within us? What strengths did He design us to develop? What weaknesses must we cast to God Who is able to conform us to His likeness? What has God given us experience in? What circumstances has He allowed in our lives which have formed us in our faith? What is His plain path for us at this moment?
— Through diligent search in God's Word…
— Through communication with God in prayer…
— Through personal reflection of God's providential preparation in our lives…
— Through Godly counsel (not a substitution for seeking God ourselves!)…
…We can find peace in knowing God's purpose for us individually.
…We can perform God's purpose with quiet confidence.
…We can exercise gratefulness to God in His perfect design.
…We can glorify God as His purpose is accomplished through us.
We were created for His pleasure. "All things were created by Him, and for Him…" -Colossians 1:16b Not only should we discover and perform the will of God appointed to us, we should be helping those placed within our realm of influence to know God and discover His purpose for their lives. Those in our homes should receive this prayerful encouragement from us first. What mother in her right mind ever wanted anything less than God's best for her newborn baby? God's best comes through knowing Him personally and doing what He has planned. Motherhood is a high calling – a grave responsibility and a great privilege! We must influence our children to desire to be who God fashioned them to be and to do what He designed them to do – whatever it may be. Each person is uniquely made. Even twins and multiples are incredibly different in their make ups. Maybe, our spouses need a dose of encouragement in life purpose. I need to work on confirming the shining qualities of those I love and gently helping them through weakness. I know how I am helped when one confirms a gift God gave me or helps me when I struggle through one of my weak spots.
How boringly robotical life would be if we each had to fit into a mechanical mold! What vision, creativity, and hope we can possess when we realize, accept and embrace how God designed us. Just to think… our Maker is the only perfect Designer! He is ever present to complete His work in each of us. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…" –Hebrews 12:2a
