Need Counsel?

Proverbs 15:22 “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.”

purposes– thoughts, devices, plans, inventions

disappointed– broken, frustrated, violated, shattered, split, divided, broken through

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Purposes and thoughts have the same meaning in these two verses. My thoughts, my plans, my ideas need to be run through counsel – from Godly human sources and from the LORD – in order for them to be established, fixed, brought to fruition, carried out.

Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

My first counsel should be sought from God. The Holy Spirit will direct me in my thoughts, ideas, plans, and dreams if I allow Him to. As He leads me, then I can ask advice of those in positions of authority over me, of elder Godly women, of Godly friends. I can read and research written sources. If I am truly seeking God’s mind in a matter, He will not hide His will from me.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
