Psalm 119:80 "Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed."
With a minimal browsing of the news of current events, one's heart can be overwhelmed. Some news stories can make one physically sick because of the intentional evil done. This is not going away. II Timothy 3:13 states, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived."
I ask God to give me a sound heart [perfect, complete, whole, healthful, entire, having integrity] in the midst of this cruel world that I be not ashamed [put to silence, disappointed]. How can I have a sound heart? I must be established in God's Word. I must fear God and not man. Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."
In order to fear God and not man, I must be secure and settled through God's Word. I ask God to "Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear." -Proverbs 119:38
Though evil is rampant, God does not want us to live in fear. He desires us to walk wisely while trusting Him with our lives, our families, our churches, our communities, our nation, our world. "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." -Ephesians 5:14-16
All of these "s" words I desire for my life: sound, stable, secure, settled. In a changing world, I hold to the unchanging Word of an unchangeable God! ~ Walk in His Word! ~Jeri Lynn
