Joy and Peace

"Joy is peace dancing, and peace is joy at rest." - F. B. Meyer

How well this statement expresses the relation of these two parts of the fruit of the Spirit!

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
-Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

The list of fruit parts begins with love. When we know the love of God, then His love is free to pour on others.

When we know His love, we can grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.

Joy is rooted in our hearts as we find our sole satisfaction in Him alone. The heart-wrenching sorrow, the dulling discouragement, or the earthly grief cannot bury the joy gifted to us by Jesus Christ.

The peace which passeth all understanding is present even when life gets messy. Knowing our Lord is sovereign dispels creeping fears that some situations have slipped beyond His power or even His sight.

Only God can empower our hearts to rejoice when it seems the sun will not shine again.

Only God can still our hearts in dark, raging storms.

When we have Jesus, we have all we need. How merciful and gracious is our living, loving Savior to be our Joy and our Peace!
