It seems that for several months, there has been a deep sense of question, coupled with fears, in light of varied happenings. A friend from college posted similar thoughts this week, and she has some “good stuff” to think about. She was gracious to grant me the opportunity to share her post with you. Thank you, India!
Here lately in the quiet moments, I catch myself gazing out my windows, pondering life and what's to come. Fear rumbles like a distant thunder. I can't help but think to myself,
"It's coming." Our country, the leadership, the economy, our freedom, our rights to preach, to teach, to protect…O God what about my children? Our children?… But God preciously gave me these verses a couple of days ago. My heart and my eyes were pricked.
Habbakuk 3:17-19 17 "Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places."
As I look out those windows, I can't help but see our fig, apple, and cherry trees, the rose bush, the blueberry bush – all so bare, bleak and cold. But I KNOW that come spring, those bright beautiful green leaves and blossoms will appear, and once again my children and I will excitedly pick and eat until our heart’s content….and then I am reminded:
"It's coming." Heaven. Eternity. My Lord. Rest. Peace. It's real, and I am just waiting. Working. Storing up. Staying at it. Because now is the time to work, but not later. Not later because "It's coming…" And There? There will be no more wondering, dreading, pondering. So God quietly whispered one more verse.
Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
I found that, no matter what, I have plenty of good stuff to think about!

India is the “right hand woman” to her husband, and she enjoys homeschooling her children. Some of her favorite verses are Ephesians 2:8-9.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast.”
