Grief upon Grief:
Grace upon Grace!
On our earthly trek
To our Home Place.
Dark clouds hover-
Surreal and so still-
Heaviness of heart
Deep sorrow we feel.
Loss comes with fury,
Taking what was lent;
God gives, and He takes
By Divine appointment.
In the losing and parting,
Memories become history.
God's timing and ways
Are to us a High mystery.
While darts of change pierce
Our lives - never the same,
Immutable Love measures
Grace to our weary frames.
Grace to mourn the absence
Of past gifts from His hand;
Grace to grow strong in Him -
With faith and courage to stand.
Grief upon grief:
Grace upon grace!
For grace in grief,
To God be praise!
