God sends little comforts along with some pain,
Like a redbird in flight or a gentle, steady rain.
Just little things bring unexpected delights:
A meaningful word said, a beautiful sight.
A Divine appointed meeting, a loving note received,
A tender expression given, a lost item retrieved.
The absolute working of God in a loved one's heart,
Just hearing the words, "new beginning / fresh start."
A desire accomplished – sweet; a necessity supplied;
An answered prayer that God Himself perfectly timed.
Spring's plump, red cherries; fall's bright leaves of color,
Winter's pure white snow; the ocean's blue in summer.
Happy days remembered, hope for more to come;
Sounds and smiles of little ones, songs sweetly sung.
My pain can find me falling flat on my face;
God's comforts lift me to experience new grace.
When my heart is wounded, my tears flow with heat;
How can little comforts the painful sadness meet?
The pain is filtered through God's loving, faithful hand;
Drawing me closer to Him, strengthening me to stand.
He teaches me lessons; I have so many to learn.
Through pain, I always find comfort in His Word.
May I humbly and diligently seek His likeness to gain
Actively seeing God's comforts, new mercies to obtain.
"Comfort your hearts,
and stablish you in every good word and work."
~II Thessalonians 2:17
"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed,
because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness."
