Chocolate Oatmeal for Breakfast?

After a busy day out and bath time in progress, I had the urge *and energy* to make my family some No-Bakes. I had all the ingredients, the time, and the desire to please my husband by making one of his favorites. Seeing me measure the oatmeal to pour into the saucepan of chocolate, my eight year old asked me, "Are we going to eat that for breakfast?" "Oatmeal" = "breakfast" in her mind. My answer was… "Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea to me!" It does have nutritious oatmeal in it; it is pre-made; and there's practically no clean-up required! And I must confess… I had chocolate oatmeal for breakfast on the run the next morning!No-Bakes

In a saucepan, mix:

2 cups sugar

4 TBS cocoa

1/2 cup milk

Boil for 90 seconds, and remove from heat. Then, add:

1 butter stick

1/2 cup peanut butter

1 tsp. vanilla

3 cups oatmeal

Drop on to wax paper on cookie sheet to cool.

Eat for breakfast!

(This is the recipe from my mom that I have used for 20 years – guaranteed to add pounds!)
