Apple of Thine Eye

Proverbs 7:2-3 "Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.”

The apple of thine eye refers to the pupil – the most inward and deepest part of our eyeball which we go to great lengths to protect. God’s Word should be deep within us and kept safely in our hearts that we may see God as He is, ourselves as we are, and others in that same light.

Writing them on the tables of our heart seems to indicate the importance of hiding God’s Word in our hearts. It is important, but do we actually do it? I enjoy putting Scripture verses to music to help us memorize them. Do you have a plan for memorizing God’s Word that you would like to share?

Psalm 119:11 “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
